SPBD is a network of microfinance organizations working in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and the Solomon Islands dedicated to eradicating poverty by empowering women in poor rural villages with the opportunity to start, grow and maintain sustainable, income generating micro-enterprises.

Elrico Munoz

General Manager – SPBD Fiji

Elrico has more than 25 years of diverse experience in the microfinance space, and he has been managing SPBD Fiji for 8 years.  While heading SPBD Fiji, Rico also served as Chairman of the Microfinance Working Group for Fiji for 3 years.  Rico also served as the General Manager of SPBD Samoa and also helped to launch and establish the start-up operations for SPBD Tonga as a short-term consultant to the general manager.

During his time with Kiva Microfunds, Rico successfully added 11 microfinance partners to his portfolio from the Philippines (8), Mongolia (1), Vietnam (1) and Indonesia (1). He has also served as the Managing Director of Vanwoods Microfinance in Vanuatu from 1995-1997. In the early years of his career, he served as Operations Director for the Center Community Transformation (CCT), a microfinance organization in the Philippines, wherein he successfully turned around this ailing organization to make it one of the largest and most viable MFIs in the Philippines. 

Rico holds an MM in Business Management and a BA in Psychology from the University of the Philippines.
